PI Antonio Orvieto appointed AI2050 Early Career Fellow

For the third time now, Schmidt Sciences from New York selected 25 scientists to benefit from $12 million in research funding. Among the 25 scientists that sent in a proposal and got selected to be part of the AI2050 group is Principal Investigator Antonio Orvieto from the ELLIS Institute. In total, 71 scientists from 37 institutions have benefited from this annual initiative so far. 

For his outstanding work, Antonio Orvieto, who earned his PhD at ETH Zurich, was inducted as an AI 2050 Early Career Fellow. His research focuses on the efficient training of deep learning models and large-scale optimization. The results of his work have diverse applications, providing valuable insights for biology, neuroscience, natural language processing, and even music creation. According to Schmidt Sciences, only scientists whose research has the potential to make the world a better place are selected as AI 2050 Early Career Fellows. Antonio is the only candidate selected from Europe for AI2050 Early Career Fellows.
